Mori Seiki Introduces New Technology in NH4000 DCG and NV4000 DCG Machines

Mori Seiki's New NH4000 DCG minimizes vibration with new technology

"The NH4000 and NV400 are the results of 450 great engineering minds working to solve an industry-wide problem - increasing performance while minimizing vibration," said a Mori Seiki spokesperson. Following are the new technologies to solve this problem:

  • Driven at the Center of Gravity (DCG) - The net driving force acts through the center of the axis with the new design. Through design analysis Mori Seiki engineers were able to develop new designs with the "Driven at the Center of Gravity" technology. The NH4000 contains a twin ballscrew drive on the X-axis that enables a reduction in vibration. The new N machines only incorporate twin ballscrews when it provides benefit, thereby reducing unneeded weight.

  • Force Loop Advanced Shape (FLASH) - The NH4000 has been designed with a more stable platform than previous models. The NH4000's new design allows machining forces to traverse across the box-in-box structure and through the bed, forming a closed loop. The box-in-box design cuts down on the weight of the column being moved during machining.

  • Minimum Moving Mass (M3) - Through digital analysis, the ideal mass was developed to improve accuracy and dynamic response, without compromising strength or vibration damping.

The newly designed clamping mechanism for the 15.7" square pallet uses two-face cone couplers. This feature benefits users most in high-thrust cuts near the top of the Y-axis travel. In this situation, the NH4000 can handle more chip load because of reduced deflection and vibration. The picket type chip conveyor requires less space than previous models.

Optionally, the new NH4000 also features an autocoupler with ports for hydraulics (up to 3000 psi), pneumatics and work seating detection. An autocoupler permits permanent piping of the fixturing to the pallet, enabling easy exchange of pallets and eliminating external piping.

EMAG VL 3

Automation + turning integrated into a single machine and implemented on the smallest of footprints. The outstanding characteristics of the VL series of machines are high productivity levels, an extremely high degree of constantly maintained precision, outstanding operational safety and ease of operation. VL stands for short travels and great acceleration. Ideal for small to medium batches. VL – an altogether economical solution.

The system with many advantages:

  • integrated automation, low capital outlay
  • automatic workpiece changeover in the shortest possible time
  • short travels for loading and machining, resulting in shortest possible cycle times
  • high degree of availability
  • ideal chip fl ow conditions
  • very short chip-to-chip times
  • small footprint

What distinguishes the VL series of machines are high productivity levels, extremely high and constantly maintained precision, exceptional process integrity and a high degree of operator friendliness. The pick-up spindle forms part of the overhead slide and serves as a workhandling unit. Short traverses and the machine‘s compact design make for exceptionally short loading and cycle times.
